About Stant Litore
Stant Litore has taught fiction writing workshops for Clarion West, Pikes Peak Writers, Apex Writers, and Writing the Other. Besides his toolkits for fiction writers, he is the author of Ansible: A Thousand Faces, The Dakotaraptor Riders, and The Zombie Bible and of the nonfiction work On the Other Side of the Night, among other titles. His approach to character development was featured in Jeff Vandermeer’s Wonderbook: An Illustrated Guide to Creating Imaginative Fiction.
In-Depth Consultation
Stant Litore has been providing one-on-one consultation to fiction writers since 2003. His preferred approach is to review up to 5 submitted, double-spaced pages in advance and then take the writer through a process of discovery. Litore joins you not as an editor but as a highly skilled fellow-researcher, and your story or novel is the research dig. The shared goal during the session is to surface opportunities for character development, plot, and thematic intensity that you have not yet considered and that will empower you to deliver a deeper, more riveting, exciting story.
Testimonials
“Working with Stant was an unmitigated pleasure. He took the time to read my already published work in the series as well as the working script for future volumes, and seemed to fully understand the story I was envisioning. He worked with me to uncover the plot and characters I was struggling to find in my own writing. It was an electrifying session, and the notes from that are still informing my work on the project a year later.” – Pink Pitcher, author and artist, Root & Branch
“Encountering Stant Litore’s advice on character development was revelatory, and I had to immediately rewrite my novel. It was exhilarating.” – K. Tempest Bradford, Writing the Other
“I had the opportunity to work with Stant during one of his workshops. He gave me such valuable advice and insight that I asked him to help me develop my characters and plot further. I am so glad I did! Stant has in-depth knowledge of storytelling and character, and he is extremely adept at applying this knowledge to the developing story at hand. Even when my thoughts and ideas are difficult for me to articulate, he is able to make sense of them and help me hone in on what I really want to say. He is an enthusiastic and skilled teacher and a lot of fun to work with. Last but not least, my story is so much stronger for having worked with him on it. If you have the opportunity to work with him, do not hesitate!” – Anna Brandt, writing And I Saw the Beast
“I’ve worked with a number of editors over the years (some quite well-known), but Stant was unique in my experience. Instead of the usual line and structural edits, he did a deep dive into the world of my characters and discovered hidden gems I hadn’t noticed. The potential he unlocked turned the narrative from ‘just okay’ into something truly exceptional. I’m still processing all the changes he suggested, but for the first time I feel my story can rise above the noise and make a big splash. Gotta lotta work to do!” – Hal Jay Greene, writer, Across Space
